Welcome to the Mercy Health — Toledo Trauma Recovery Center (TRC)

We provide services to adults, teens, and children (ages 7 and older). Through compassionate care and treatment, our goal is to guide you on your journey of restoration and healing.  

Our team of Certified Clinical Trauma Therapists offer evidence-based therapy. We have expertise in working with mental health issues including post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, mood disorders, anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, bereavement, loss, major life changes, dealing with chronic illness, grief and childhood or family issues.  Our clinicians are highly trained in various treatment approaches.  Some modalities of treatment include EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy and Trauma Focused CBT.

Services Provided:

  • Outpatient Therapy 
    • adults, teens, and children (ages 7 and older)
  • Community based trainings:  
    • Hands are not for Hitting -violence prevention curriculum for primary age children.
    • Best Life – Human trafficking prevention curriculum for youth ages 11-17.
    • Still Life– Gun violence prevention program for youth 

 

  • Services for Victims of Crime
    We provide services to victims of crime and their loved ones at no cost.  If you or a family member have been impacted by a crime in the last three years, you are eligible for our services. The Mercy Health Toledo Trauma Recovery Center victim services is federally funded through the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant administered by the Ohio Attorney General’s office. We understand that being a victim of crime is traumatic. 

    Survivors often report significant symptoms such as:

     

    • Depression, anxiety, panic attacks, mood changes
    • Difficulty moving forward in life and feeling as though you are not your normal self
    • Experience nightmares or difficulty sleeping
    • Become angry or irritable easily
    • Withdrawing from those you care about
    • Have difficulty making decisions
    • Experience a decline in overall health
    • Have difficulty leaving the house
    • Feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or misunderstood
    • Live in fear

What services will the TRC provide if you or a family member are a victim of crime?

  • Trauma- Focused Counseling for adults and children
  • Clinical Case management, education, and family support on your journey of healing
  • Assistance from our Certified Victim Advocate to help with information and education including assistance with filing for victims of crime compensation through the Ohio Attorney General’s Office
  • Safety planning for victims of domestic violence and other crimes
  • Assistance with resources for legal, transportation, food, clothing, emergency housing or safe stay and other resources
  • Screening and interventions for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Screening for alcohol and drug abuse issues and assistance with referral or linkage for treatment options
  • Group therapy for victims of crime.  We provide the Survivor’s Journey Group for survivors of violence which meets bi-weekly.  

 

The TRC is a Safe at Home provider for victims of crime. We can work with you to help safeguard your address. This protects your address so that it is not traceable to the public. We are one of only five Safe at Home providers in Lucas County. This is a program through the Ohio Secretary of State.

The TRC meets Ohio’s Standards of Service for trafficked persons and is included in the Ohio Attorney General’s Human Trafficking Victim Service Directory.
