Mercy Health Hosts Facebook Live Discussion on Esophageal Cancer

Mercy Health – Cincinnati, which provides advanced, quality, compassionate care in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that it is hosting a Facebook Live discussion on esophageal cancer featuring medical oncologist David Kirlin, MD and radiation oncologist Joseph Shaugnessy, MD, both from OHC, at noon on Thursday, April 27.

The discussion will take place on Mercy Health – Cincinnati’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/mercyswohio/, where it will also be archived if you can’t catch the discussion live.

Drs. Kirlin and Shaugnessy will join Susan Brown, executive director of Mercy Health - Cincinnati’s cancer service line, to help viewers understand symptoms, causes and treatment options for this disease. Those watching the livestream can post questions that Susan and the doctors will answer.

This discussion is part of Mercy Health’s monthly series on cancer related topics, including a demonstration on cancer-fighting foods and last year’s talks on breast cancer screening and metastatic breast cancer awareness.

“Esophageal cancer is a leading cause of cancer deaths and there are things you can do to reduce your risk of developing it,” says Brown. “Drs. Kirlin and Shaugnessy will give our community helpful information on how they can potentially reduce their risk of developing esophageal cancer and should it ever be diagnosed, the treatment options available to them.”
