The Ohio Organization of Nurse Executives Bestows Nurse Leadership Award on Mercy Health – West Hospital’s Stephanie Meade
Mercy Health - Cincinnati, which provides advanced, quality, compassionate care in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that the Ohio Organization of Nurse Executives (OONE) awarded Stephanie Meade with its Nurse Leadership Award. Meade received the award on Thursday, November 9, at the OONE Fall Conference.
Meade is the Vice President of Nursing at West Hospital and as the newly hired VP of Nursing, she was responsible for opening a brand new hospital that combined the staff and operations of Mercy Health – Mt. Airy and Western Hills Hospitals into West Hospital. West Hospital also added new team members to provide services such as open heart surgery and labor and delivery not previously available on the West Side.
Meade’s nomination noted that she succeeded in creating a culture of engagement among the nursing team. That culture has grown the nursing team’s emotional commitment to Mercy Health and its goals and is driving the strongest staff retention figures and the highest patient satisfaction scores and patient safety scores Mercy Health has ever experienced on the West Side.
“Stephanie has shown she has the tenacity to be a transformational nursing leader as evidenced by her nurses’ strong engagement, increased patient experience scores and quality of patient care,” said Pat Davis-Hagens, Mercy Health – Cincinnati Chief Nursing Officer and Central Market President. “She led the merger of two hospitals into one site effectively and with increasing patient satisfaction year on year. Her influence on the profession of nursing and advocacy for her nurses to have the resources they need deliver great patient care is evidenced by an all-time low vacancy rate and record low turnover of new graduates. I congratulate her on winning this well-deserved honor.”
