Mercy Health - Cincinnati, which provides advanced, quality, compassionate care in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded it a $142,000 grant to support telehealth services in Brown and Adams counties.
The grant will allow Mercy Health to deliver medical services to patients via telehealth at clinical care sites in Brown and Adams counties. The grant also supports the ability for distant providers to collaborate on complex medical decision-making. Mercy Health received the grant through the USDA’s Distance Learning and Telemedicine Program.
“Residents in rural southwest Ohio have limited access to health care specialists. This limited access is associated with increased rates of chronic disease, hospitalization and reduced life expectancy,” said Jon Labbe, Foundation President, Mercy Health - Cincinnati. “Thanks to this grant, Mercy Health can provide quality care for patients in these counties via telehealth services, which leverage information technology, video imaging and telecommunication links to extend Mercy Health’s reach cost-effectively.”
Mercy Health anticipates offering telehealth services, including behavioral health consultations, early next year in the following locations:
