Mercy Health has started construction on a $2 million project that will create a new 900-square foot interventional radiology suite and allow for expanded patient services at Clermont Hospital.
Interventional radiologists are doctors who can diagnose and treat diseases in nearly every organ of the body using minimally invasive, image-guided procedures.
“The new interventional radiology suite helps us expand services so patients in Clermont, Brown and Adams counties can receive care close to home,” said Shane Knisley, president of Clermont Hospital.
“In addition to being able to offer traditional interventional radiology services, by expanding the suite, we can bring in equipment that allows us to offer high level interventional services such as kyphoplasty, which stabilizes broken vertebra, and balloon angioplasty or stent placement to open clogged arteries.”
Champlin is the project architect and Schumacher Dugan is the contractor.
The project, which includes both construction and investment in new equipment, began in late October and is due to be complete in March 2020.
