Mercy Health - Anderson, Fairfield and West Hospitals and The Jewish Hospital – Mercy Health have once again earned advanced certification as primary stroke centers from the Joint Commission.

The advanced certification comes with the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark. The Gold Seal of Approval® and the Heart-Check mark represent symbols of quality from their respective organizations.

Additionally, The Joint Commission recertified Mercy Health – Clermont Hospital and Mt. Orab Medical Center as Acute Stroke Ready Hospitals. Mercy Health – Harrison, Rookwood and Queen City Medical Centers also hold Acute Stroke Ready certifications.

“Seconds count when it comes to stroke and our care teams are dedicated to providing stroke patients with timely, appropriate care of the highest standard,” said Mercy Health – Cincinnati President Dave Fikse. “We welcomed the rigorous onsite review that the Joint Commission conducted at our hospitals and medical centers to evaluate our compliance with the standards of care for stroke.”

“Advanced Primary Stroke Center and Acute Stroke Ready Hospital Certifications recognize health care organizations committed to fostering continuous quality improvement in patient safety and quality of care,” says Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, chief operating officer, Accreditation and Certification Operations, and chief nursing executive, The Joint Commission. “We commend Mercy Health - Cincinnati for using certification to reduce variation in its clinical processes and to strengthen its program structure and management framework for stroke patients.”
