Mercy Health hospitals across Ohio, including The Jewish Hospital – Mercy Health and Mercy Health – Fairfield Hospital, were awarded ‘A’ grades in the fall Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing these hospitals’ achievements providing safer health care.

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over thirty national performance measures reflecting errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima and Mercy Health – St. Anne Hospital, Mercy Health - Tiffin Hospital, Mercy Health - Defiance Hospital in Toledo also earned A grades.

Developed under the guidance of a national expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
