Additional Information

Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center is committed to providing services in a health care delivery system that supports psychology interns' educational goals and objectives, to ensure that the intern educational experience is not compromised by excessive reliance on interns to fulfill service obligations.

  • Support services and systems include patient relations, psychiatry, social work, spiritual care, risk management, legal, human resources, medical records, information technology and a research coordinator to support interns' education, high quality and safe patient care, quality improvement and scholarly activities.
  • Our office staff will provide assistance with scheduling patients, routing patient electronic messages to the interns, greeting and registering outpatients, fielding general questions and assisting interns with understanding office work flow and hospital resources.
  • Our internship and the Graduate Medical Education program will ensure sufficient salary support and resources (e.g., time, office space, technology, supplies).
  • Each intern will be issued a laptop and provided with 24/7 information technology support through a helpline. Additionally, interns will be receiving hospital training in the use of the electronic medical record (EMR) upon onboarding and throughout the year as needed.
  • Interns have ready access to specialty/subspecialty-specific and other appropriate reference material in print or electronic format in individual program libraries and/or the Health Resource Center. Electronic medical literature databases and point-of-care medical resources with search capabilities are available internally.
  • Provisions are made for a healthy and safe work environment with 24-hour food services, an Employee Assistance Program and appropriate security. Our Graduate Medical Education (GME) office provides resources to support interns' well-being and minimize educational and clinical impact following a leave of absence, should one be required.
  • Interns will be training within the medical center itself, as well as in one of the attached medical office buildings. They will also have 24/7 access to our GME center, which includes a break room, snacks and ample computer stations.
