Salary

  • PGY 1: $60,000
  • PGY 2: $62,000
  • PGY 3: $64,000

We offer residents several types of insurance, including:

  • Professional liability/malpractice insurance coverage (provided through Catholic Health Partners Self-Insurance Fund)
  • Medical, dental and prescription coverage (plans require minimal monthly contributions and co-pay)

Academic Stipend

Residency in internal medicine is not easy, but with energetic and caring co-residents along with a supportive program, you will undoubtedly succeed in your residency experience. The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center is known for its supportive culture. Residents come together to help each other in an environment rooted in caring and collegiality. Our culture is inclusive and emphasizes the prioritization of wellness and work-life balance. The camaraderie among our colleagues extends far beyond our residency training. The diversity of our program ensures that there is always someone who shares similar interests.

Assuring that each resident has a high quality of life is a priority for our program. We believe that managing stress and maintaining a healthy life outside of residency improves residents’ ability to learn and to care for patients most effectively.

Our resident-led wellness advisory group (WAG) and the Bon Secours Mercy Health LifeMatters Program are committed to fostering a culture that allows our residents to maintain their well-being. These opportunities provide our residents the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to maintain resiliency during residency training. These learned attributes will be essential throughout your career. 

Call Schedule 

None. All residents will do a contiguous night float month each postgraduate year but are not otherwise required to be on call. Night float averages one night in five off service to allow for rest and personal time.

Average Hours a Week

This will vary by service. All services adhere to ACGME work hour limitations and the program administration takes steps to assure that all residents have sufficient time to learn, rest and maintain acceptable personal time away from the rigors of the residency environment.
