Grow Your Skills in Spiritual Care
Mercy Health — Lourdes Hospital, through the online modalities offered by Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital, offers clinical placement to individuals willing to pursue ACPE accredited units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
CPE is designed to prepare individuals for professional spiritual care in health care settings. This educative modality provides hands-on experience, reflective learning, and mentorship to students in a supportive learning environment.

CPE provides students an opportunity to reflect on their personal spiritual journey and professional career. Also, CPE enables students to receive academic credit through their school, gain professional health care experience and meet their personal and professional goals.

This online CPE program belongs to Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital. In this context, Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY is the clinical site for students enrolled these programs. Upon successfully completing each unit, students can expect receiving credit for ACPE Accredited Units of CPE.

Sejana Yoo, MDiv, MS, APC-BCC, CES is the chaplain supervisor and ACPE preceptor for students serving at Lourdes Hospital. She is the local liaison of Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital CPE program. The CPE application fee is payable through Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital which is the accredited CPE Center. Applicants must use the “CPE – St. Mary’s Hospital (Richmond) – Application Fee,” and the other CPE – St. Mary’s Hospital options to pay down payments and fees.

Fees and Tuition
- $50 non-refundable application fee (submit with application)
- $100 down payment to hold your spot (applied toward tuition)
- $600 tuition for Extended Unit and Hybrid Summer Internship (payment plans available)

Eligibility Requirements
To apply, you must:
- Complete an ACPE application
- Participate in an admission interview
- Minimally, have a high school diploma/GED and ordination/commission by a recognized spiritual authority, Bachelor and post graduate degrees are preferred
- Complete hospital onboarding
- Sign a Use of Clinical Materials Consent Form in addition to other required onboarding paperwork

Accreditation Status
ACPE: The Standard for Spiritual Care and Education ACPE, Inc., fully accredits Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital to offer in-person and online CPE programs for all levels of CPE and CEC. Lourdes Hospital is the clinical site for this accredited program.
