Welcome from the Program Director

Thank you for considering the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at Mercy Health — West Hospital. Choosing a residency is an important decision, and I appreciate the opportunity to introduce you to our program and the people who make it special.

Our program is designed to build on the knowledge and skills you developed in pharmacy school while helping you grow into a confident, independent clinician. Residents gain experience across a variety of practice areas, strengthen their clinical judgment, and take on increasing responsibility throughout the year. They are active members of our pharmacy department and work closely with pharmacists, providers, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team.

Because we welcome two residents each year, we are able to get to know each resident personally and understand their individual strengths, interests, and career goals. Our curriculum offers the flexibility to explore different areas of pharmacy practice while receiving guidance from experienced and supportive preceptors. We want residents to feel challenged to grow, comfortable asking questions, and supported as they develop their own approach to patient care.

Residency is a demanding year, and we believe professional growth and personal well-being are both important. Our goal is to provide an experience that prepares residents for the next step in their careers while helping them build confidence, meaningful professional relationships, and a strong foundation for continued growth.
