How to Apply — Pediatric Residency at St. Vincent Medical Center

Applications are accepted exclusively through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Our program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). We do not accept applications submitted by mail, email, fax, or other methods.

Basic Application Requirements

A completed ERAS application must include:

  • Dean's Letter or equivalent from the medical school
  • Three letters of recommendation, including at least one letter from a pediatric attending
  • Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE), if applicable
  • Personal Statement
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Medical School Transcript
  • USMLE and/or COMLEX examination scores

Candidate Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements established by Mercy Health — St. Vincent Medical Center, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), and the State of Ohio.

Applicants must:

  • Meet applicable medical education and credentialing requirements for appointment to an ACGME-accredited residency program.
  • Be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Ohio.
  • Meet all applicable examination and credentialing requirements prior to appointment.
  • Have graduated from medical school within the previous three years. Exceptions may be granted for exceptional applicants with advanced
    • training or attending-level experience.
  • Not have a felony conviction.

Medical School Eligibility

Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications for appointment to the Pediatric Residency Program:

  • Graduates of a medical school in the United States or Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
  • Graduates of a college of osteopathic medicine in the United States accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
  • Graduates of a medical school outside the United States or Canada who have obtained a currently valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).

Visa Sponsorship

For the 2027 Main Residency Match, the Mercy Health — St. Vincent Medical Center Pediatric Residency Program is unable to accept applicants who require visa sponsorship. This includes J-1 and H-1B visas.

Selection Process

Candidates must meet the program's eligibility requirements to be considered for ranking. Applications are screened by the Pediatric Residency Program's selection committee according to established program criteria. The selection committee may include designated faculty and residents. Applicants selected through the screening process will be invited to interview.

Interview Format: Interviews are conducted virtually via Microsoft Teams.
